On October 10, 2009, they were married at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, MO, by Lead Pastor Mitchell Jarvis and family friend Carl Burkhead of Lawrence, KS. As a special acknowledgment, a remembrance candle was lit in honor of the bride's father. The ceremony included a violin solo of Todd Rundgren's Love Is The Answer performed by organist, Angela Bounds. A 1955 blue-over-pearl Bentley chauffeured the couple to their dinner reception at The Cotillion Room and Garden located within The Ballet Conservatory in Independence, MO.

The bride is the daughter of June Jeanette Coffman Laster and the late Loyd Liles Laster, Jr. of Independence, MO. She graduated from Englewood Christian School and is currently employed as a data transcriber. The groom is the son of Donald and Betty Burton of Kansas City, MO. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and is currently employed in automotive parts sales.

Escorted by the bride's uncle, John Franklin Laster, Sr., of Oak Grove, MO, the bride wore a white taffeta pick-up gown with a sweetheart neckline, beaded metallic bodice including long sheer sleeves with floral motif and accent buttons, inverted V-empire and lace-up back with a sweep train. Her fingertip length custom veil was two-layer angel cut with pencil edging and aurora borealis crystals scattered throughout. The bride's bouquet was comprised of a cascade of deep purple orchids and dark blue hibiscus. Swarovski Crystallized silver necklaces with amethyst and sapphire matching Crystal Elements pendants designed by the bride were chosen as accessories for her and her bridesmaids. The bride also wore a 14K gold Brazilian blue topaz and diamond bracelet that was a gift from the groom.

The bride's party included Kelly Cypret as Matron of Honor and bridesmaids Gayla Burton and Tammy Hammontree. The groom's party included Ronald Keefer as Best Man and groomsmen Robert Zillner and Terry Burton. The flower girls were Kara Hammontree and Lilly Marlott and the ring bearers were Dane Laster and Cameron Laster. Sam Coffman was the candlelighter and Joyce Burkhead was the attendant; the ushers were Patrick Laster and Brian McNutt.

The next day, they went on their honeymoon to Hawaii. They visited Molokai, Maui, The Big Island, Oahu, Kauai and Lanai. The newlyweds now reside in Independence, MO.
