Happy 100th Birthday

Happy 100th Birthday

01.30.2010
A reception will be held to honor EVA SOPER DEXTER on Saturday, February 13th, 1:00pm-3:00pm at Heritage House, 660 N Spring, Independence MO. All friends are invited. (No gifts, please--Cards are Welcomed.)

Eva Ruth Soper was born in Michigan February 12, 1910. The youngest of 9 children born to John Kirk Soper, Eva grew up enjoying all the pampering given to the baby of a family. At the age of 9 she eagerly chose baptism into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As the family lived on meager earnings, she learned thriftiness from her mother, Aletha. Eva also inherited talents for poetry and art from her parents.

She married Alva Dexter in July 1935 and their life together proved to be one of the matches designed by God, Himself. The 3 children added to this union kept Eva busy while Alva worked for General Motors. They also traveled throughout Michigan, serving the church wherever called. Together they shared in sorrow when, in early womanhood, their eldest daughter was taken from the earth. After Alva's retirement, the couple moved their home to Independence. They also extended their travels in service to their loved Heavenly Father. Not only were they often in Florida but they also traveled to the Grand Cayman Islands and elsewhere.

When Alva's health began to decline they moved into Heritage House where Eva continued to share her gifts of song, decorating, calligraphy, art, and poetry in many ways. Currently a member of the Farview Restoration Branch, she is active in the Restoration Group activities at Heritage House and continues to submit new poems for their newsletter, "The Informer".

Eva, now a widow, is excited about this upcoming birthday celebration, planning to see her surviving two children--Donald Dexter and Lois Heaviland, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and even more friends at her reception. She has worn her years well, both physically and spiritually! We are thrilled to include her in the growing number of current Centenarians!
