Guillermo R. Leyba of Rocky Ford, CO entered into rest January 28, 2010 in Pueblo, CO at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House. He was born October 14, 1933 in Maes, NM to Rupert Leyba and Eugenia Lujan. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Leyba is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Eleanor Leyba of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by his children; Sammy (Patti Rivas) Segura of San Jose, CA, Barbara Moreno of Glendale, CA, Laura Leyba of Rocky Ford, CO, Lisa (David) Stone of Fountain, CO, Billy (Rebecca) Leyba of Pueblo, CO. Grandchildren; Joshua Leyba, Chris, Shaun and Jessie Segura, Billy Leyba, Tritia and Erica Moreno, Zachary Martinez, Andrea Montanez, Dominic Villanueva, Karina Flonnoy, and two great-grandchildren. Sisters; Esther Guerrero, of Los Angeles, CA and Mary Ruiz of Woodland, CA. Brothers-In-Law; Manuel (Mary) Romero of Lamar, CO, Raymond Romero of Denver, CO, Sisters-in-law; Joann Romero of Denver, CO and Eyloda Segura of Rocky Ford. He also has numerous nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Eugena Leyba, Brother, Jessie Leyba, Brothers-In-Law Richard and Paul Segura, Luis Ruiz and Loretto Guerrero.
Guillermo married Eleanor Segura on May 1, 1960. He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. He was a flight deck crewmember. He worked at the Pueblo Army Depot for 32 years. He served as President of the National Association of Active Retired Federal Employees. Mr. Leyba was a very generous, loving person and he loved helping others. He also loved his little garden, which he called, "God's Little Acre" from which he would pick tomatoes and red chili peppers. Guillermo was very involved with the parish and in making woodcrafts. He also enjoyed playing cards with his wife and their friends. He especially loved his family. We miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2010 followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held, 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 5, 2010. All services are at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Burial will be at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions, in Guillermo Leyba's name, can be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House in Pueblo, CO.
