Dominga "Domie" Rose Sherman, 88, passed away on February 18, 2010. She was born on Sept. 25, 1921 to Luz & Maria (Terrones) Hernandez. She married C. Frank Sherman, on August 29, 1940 in Syracuse, Kansas; he preceded her in death on August 9, 1984.
Domie is survived by daughters, Millie Sherman of Tyler, TX, Rose Marie (Toby) Manzanares of Pueblo, Velma (Cruz) Betancur of La Junta, Edna (Carlos) Medina of Denver, Virginia (Joe) Florez of Denver, and Donna (Daniel) Starck of La Junta; sons, Ronnie Sanchez of Denver and Raymond Sanchez of La Junta; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 14 great, great-grandchildren. Sister, Victoria Rael, brother-in-law, Joe Ayala and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by parents Luz and Maria T. Hernandez; husband, Frank Sherman; sons, Robert F. Sherman and Raymond Sherman; grandsons, Robert Betancur and Robert Sherman; sisters, Virginia Ayala, Jenny Ensina and Molly Ayala; brother-in-laws, Luis Ensina, Jess Rael and Pete Ayala.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23 both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Catholic Parish in La Junta, CO.
