Sherman and Laura Shockley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2010. Residents of Independence for fifty seven of those years, Laura and Sherman, both long retired, enjoy spending time with their four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom live in the metropolitan area. Sherman is a WWII veteran who retired from Armco Steel after 34 years. Laura trained as an LPN after the children graduated high school and worked at the Independence Regional Health Center for seventeen and a half years. Four generations of family and friends gathered at the Hometown Buffet March 4th to celebrate this wonderful milestone.
