Mr. Ernest Guerrero dies at 81

Ernest "Ernie" Guerrero, 81, of La Junta, passed away Saturday, June 5,
2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be
Tuesday, June 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Peacock
Memorial Chapel with Brother Chris Johnson of the Marantha Fellowship
officiating.
Ernie was born Nov. 7, 1928 to Tiburcio & Maria Apolinar (Pacheco) Guerrero
in La Junta. He married Pauline Palacio on August 16, 1948 in La Junta.
Ernie worked at the Harvey House as a busboy; the Kit Carson Hotel & the
Capri Motel as a chef, where he was known as the "Prime Rib King"; and
he worked 17 years as a runway and grounds keeper at the City of La Junta
Municipal Airport. He was a longtime member of the Marantha Fellowship.
Ernie will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of the La Junta family home; daughters, Margaret (Floyd) Espinoza of La Junta, Teresa (Harry) Fields of Las Vegas, NV, Helen (Edward) Pino of La Junta, and Ernestine (Ron) Wells, of Holcomb, KS; son, Daniel (Joni) Guerrero of Aurora, CO; sister, Mary Ramirez of California; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren survive.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Tiburcio and Maria Apolinar Guerrero, five brothers and two sisters.
