Mrs. Judi Wood dies

06.29.2010
Judi Darlene Wood, 63, of La Junta was granted her angel wings on Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was in the arms of her husband in the final moments in their home.
A Celebration of her life will be Thursday, July 1st at 10 a.m. at the La Junta First Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Andy Albright officiating.
Judi was born on Oct. 12, 1946 in La Junta to Dale C. and Mary Iona (Emrick) Munson. She was raised in Fowler, graduating in 1964. She married Frank Wood on Aug. 6, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nev., and made their home in La Junta. Born to this union were Kimberly, Tracey, Shawna, and David.
Judi enjoyed working in the food industry in many capacities. Her passion was catering, providing the sparkle and wow factor for an event or a special dinner for her family. She was a devoted member of the John Fisher Hose Auxiliary for 25 years, providing support for her husband's passion of volunteering in the community with the fire department and ambulance service. She enjoyed bowling, teaching swimming lessons, and ceramics. Judi was a cheerleader and audience member for all of her children and grandchildren's activities. She became the adopted grandma of her granddaughter's friends and teammates. Her family was her passion and her life. She was always there, whether it was the joyous occasion of a marriage or birth, or a struggle in life in which she was there to hold you up and get you through the struggle. Mom, Grandma was there. Judi was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Judi embraced technology as she became an expert text messenger and was only a phone call away. Judi was optimistic and hopeful as she battled cancer. She treated each treatment as a victory and embraced the iPod.
