Shirley Ann Almeida, of La Junta, entered into rest, July 21, 2010, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1943 in La Junta, CO. She was 67 years of age. Shirley is survived by her children; Darryl Whatley of Albuquerque, NM, Dale (Crystal) Whatley of La Junta, Darin Whatley of La Junta, Erika (Tim) Trujillo of Pueblo. Brothers; Ervin and Leonard Trujillo of Denver, Sister, Eve (David) Cordova of Denver, Parents, Frank and Florence Trujillo of Denver. Grandchildren; David Lee Whatley, Tosha Baca, Christopher Rael, Dominic Whatley, Jeremy Pedro, Darian Whatley, Justina Smallwood, Jacelynn and Tyson Trujillo, and best friend, Corrina "Maudie" Sigala of La Junta.
Shirley enjoyed watching her children play baseball, and working on arts and craft projects. She was a big fan of the Denver Broncos and Michael Jackson. She loved life and helping people. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Junta.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, Monday, July 26, 2010 at Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held, 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in La Junta. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home of La Junta.
